Developmental Support

Play is the universal language of children. They learn, cope, and heal through play. As Child Life Specialists we are extremely well versed in social, emotional and physical development. In terms of development, the first five years of a child’s life are fundamentally important. “90% of a child’s brain develops by age 5. Significant research has made clear that the quality of a child’s experiences in the first few years of life- positive or negative- helps shape how their brain develops.” Each of these experiences impact a child’s health, behavior and ability to learn, build relationships and  overcome adversity.

We utilize developmental screenings and assessments to meet your child exactly where they are at. Our team works closely with caregivers to set attainable social, emotional and physical goals that we will work towards in sessions. Our nurturing and patient approach allows us to build quick rapport with infants and toddlers. Once a sense of safety is fostered, we engage with children by providing mental stimulation through play.

By promoting positive development, we create care plans to help children meet each developmental milestone despite challenges, trauma and adverse experiences. In doing so, we often collaborate with SLP, PT, OT, etc. This allows us to gain a full perspective of your child, providing the most impactful individualized support plan from each discipline. Our interventions utilized will also support the goals of other disciplines such increasing fine motor, gross motor and speech skills.
